Depending on what you are looking for, “The Secret Life of Butterflies” most commonly refers to a popular annual museum exhibit, a beautifully illustrated children’s book, or the fascinating, lesser-known scientific behaviors of the insects themselves. 🦋 The Annual Museum Exhibit
The Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Illinois hosts a highly popular, interactive spring exhibit called The Secret Life of Butterflies.
The Experience: Visitors walk through an 11,000-square-foot tropical conservatory and an indoor “Butterfly House” filled with hundreds of free-flying native and exotic butterflies.
The Butterfly Lab: Guests can look inside a live pupa emergence room to watch butterflies emerge from their chrysalises and moths leave their cocoons.
Details: It typically runs from late March through late May each year. Because it regularly sells out, the conservatory highly recommends buying timed-entry tickets online in advance.
